After placing an order for 450 tonne of steel beams, we were delighted to have been invited down to the British Steel Mill at their Lackenby Works in Redcar, to witness the beams being rolled. The new beams were of a non-standard size and the mill had to manufacture a new set of rollers to allow them to produce the beams to the required dimensions and specifications. These beams will eventually be used to replace the existing 4000 meters of gantry rails which are suspended under the Forth Road Bridge.
