Gartcosh Railbridge
An upgrade programme to Gartcosh Railway Station required a covered pedestrian walkway over the A73 to access the station. Millar Callaghan’s PTS certified personnel attended the site during a Saturday night rail possession to survey the existing bridge. From this survey a proposal was put forward to the client.
When the proposal was accepted our fabrication department went into full production on the new steelwork. When the steelwork was complete it received a four coat railway specified paint system before being installed on site. The site installation had to be carried out over one railway possession on a Saturday night.
The existing bridge was drilled to accept the new steelwork. Once the new steelwork was installed, the sheeting and guttering were added to complete the structure.
This covered walkway was successfully installed over one night with no disruption to the public or the rail service.
