BCSA is the national organisation for the steel construction industry. Millar Callaghan are one of the member companies, since 2011, who undertake the fabrication and erection of steelwork for all forms of construction in building and civil engineering. The Association is a focal point at local, national and international level for the steel construction industry, acting as its representative body and central management services organisation.
Millar Callaghan gained RISQS accreditation in 2006. As the UK rail industry supplier registration and qualification scheme, RISQS has made a significant impact to the rail industry. It has provided a single common qualification process for suppliers that is shared by Network Rail and over 100 rail organisations, including mainline rail infrastructure companies, underground infrastructure companies, construction companies and all major train and freight operators.
Millar Callaghan are on the Register of Qualified Steelwork Contractors for Bridgeworks. This certifies that we have the personnel, experience, knowledge, equipment, capability and commitment to produce steelwork of the required quality for bridge refurbishment, footbridges, sign gantries and associated ancillary structures.
Millar Callaghan are CE marked in accordance with BS EN 1090-2 up to Execution Class 4, the highest class achievable.
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessment) mark is the new UK product marking that will be required for certain products being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most products that previously required the CE mark. CE marking demonstrates compliance with the appropriate manufacturing standard for a product. As a symbol, it will be familiar as it has been a requirement for many years on products sold in the European Union. The CPR (Construction Products Regulation) required the CE Marking of all fabricated structural steelwork from 1 July 2014.
Millar Callaghan are certified to NHSS 20. NHSS (National Highways Sector Schemes) are bespoke quality management systems for organisations working on the UK road network. They are based on the ISO9001:2008 standards and there are currently more than 20 individual schemes which cover activities including vehicle safety restraints, road surfacing & marking and traffic management. The schemes aim to ensure that work is carried out to the highest standards of professionalism, using properly trained staff. They also place a strong emphasis on health and safety.
Our quality manual defines the quality management system operated by Millar Callaghan Engineering Services Ltd. for high quality fabrication and welding, the manufacture of parapets for road restraint systems (National Highway Sector Scheme 10A for Quality Management in Highway Works) and the installation of parapets for road restraint systems (National Highway Sector Scheme 10B for Quality Management in Highway Works).

The Welding Fabricator Certification Scheme enables welding fabricators to demonstrate compliance with BS EN ISO 3834 “Quality Requirements for Welding”. Accredited by UKAS, this certification provides independent verification of our welding and fabricating capabilities, demonstrating compliance with European and International Standards
Millar Callaghan have achieved Constructionline GOLD Membership. Constructionline is the UK’s largest register of pre-qualified contractors, consultants and suppliers for the construction industry. They ensure all suppliers are qualified and standards are uncompromised. Alongside Constructionline Gold, we also achieved Acclaim accreditation. Part of Supplier Assessment Services, Acclaim Accreditation is the go-to scheme for SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) health and safety accreditation for over 3,000 organisations and verifies that we have robust systems in place to adequately manage health and safety.
