The Forth Road Bridge was suddenly closed on the 4th December 2015 due to a crack appearing on one of the end links on the north tower. The unexpected closure of the bridge caused major delays and inconvenience to the 7000 vehicles that use the bridge on a daily basis.

Millar Callaghan were directly involved with the emergency repairs to the end link. We were responsible for not only fabricating the additional steel required at our Irvine workshop but also supplying a highly skilled experienced team of over 60 fabricators, steel erectors and coded welders to work around the clock to ensure that the bridge could be reopened as soon as possible.

Roy Callaghan commented that “We are delighted that all the hard work and long hours over the past two and a half weeks have paid off. It’s great to see the bridge reopened two weeks ahead of schedule and especially in time for the Christmas holidays.”
